Chapter Philanthropy and Service

"To prepare for service and learn the nobility of serving, thereby earning the right to be served..."

Philanthropy and service play a large role within the Kappa Psi chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha.  Throughout the year our chapter holds many events to raise money in support of the Zeta Tau Alpha’s Foundation, which supports leadership development, academic scholarships, and our national philanthropy: Breast Cancer Education and Awareness.  Every fall we hold many events throughout the month of October since it is National Breast Cancer Awareness month.  We hand out our Think Pink ribbons at Pink Out football games, host bake sales, host our Annual Lip Sync Battle, and this year we will be having a Pink Waffle sale. In the past, our ZTA partnership with the NFL's "A Crucial Catch" campaign allowed our chapter the opportunity to pass out pink ribbons and accept donations at a New York Giant's football game.

In addition to the fall, each spring our members hold our annual Kiss Away Cancer event to kick off our PINK OUT Carnival that we host every year on the SUB lawn.

Our chapter's passion for philanthropy does not stop with Breast Cancer Education and Awareness.  Our members spend time volunteering within the Kutztown community as well.  This past year, sisters in our chapter volunteered at KU's freshmen move-in day, Bone's Pizzeria anniversary event, Special Olympics held at KU, collected non-perishable food items for Reading food pantry as well as Friend Inc., and participated in the Big Brother/ Big Sister mentor program.
